If You Love God Prove It

If we love someone it is natural to prove it and it is unnatural to hide it or be unwilling to prove it. If we are not willing to prove it, we love Him less than we should or we may not love Him at all. So how do we prove that we love God? Obedience.

John 14:15, 23: If ye love me, keep my commandments. 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

We cannot obey Him unless we study the Bible to learn what He wants us to do. Not studying the Bible is the first disobedience and demonstrates insufficient love for God. Not studying the Bible is one primary method of avoiding the knowledge of His will.

2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

If you claim to love the Lord but do not study your Bible, you are deceiving yourself. Some may ask how we learn what He wants concerning things not covered in the Bible. When you are obeying the Lord in studying your Bible, HE will reveal His will in other areas.

Here is a novel idea. Study your Bible and then ask Him what He wants you to do. If we are genuinely leaving the choices up to Him He will guide us.

Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
